The Memobase portal provides the public with access to a network of institutions that preserve audiovisual cultural assets.
The portal encourages the use of photographs, films, audio and video documents in education, teaching and research. Memobase allows multilingual searches of indexed data and access to sound and image resources that are permanently preserved in Swiss institutions. The consistency and relevance of the content, the index and technical quality, and the consideration of legal regulations, meet national and international standards. Take me to the Memobase website
The portal is intended to achieve the following objectives (among others):
Simplify access to audiovisual documents for education, teaching and research purposes
Integration with other Swiss and European information portals (in progress)
Access to high-quality, cross-domain and multilingual metadata as well as free or secured access to copies of original audiovisual documents from Swiss institutions
The underlying software based on Fedora, offers extensive possibilities for the aggregation and transformation of different metadata formats. Content is made available centrally via a cross-media search engine with semantic features.
The technical solution is specially designed for harvesting data from multiple sources and offers clear import and management mechanisms. Convit supports the Memoriav e.v. association with software operation and further development of the Memobase system.
As a companion to digitalisation, we create tailored solutions for every environment.
